Clear, honest pricing. No hidden charges. Ever.
At SentePal, we believe you should know exactly what you are paying before you commit. That is why we publish all our fees and charges openly – both here on our website and at the cash point in every branch.
Below is a full breakdown of our fee structure so you can plan your withdrawal with confidence.
Fee Breakdown and Structure
There are three components to consider when withdrawing PayPal funds through SentePal. We explain each one clearly below.
1. Withdrawal Fee (Conversion Fee)
We charge a 3% conversion fee on the total USD amount being withdrawn.
This fee covers the processing, conversion, and transfer of your funds from PayPal to your chosen payout method — whether that is your mobile wallet or cash collection at the branch.
2. Exchange Rate Margin
When converting USD to UGX (Ugandan Shillings) or USD to KES (Kenyan Shillings), we apply a fixed exchange rate published daily on the SentePal website.
This means:
-
No guesswork — you can check today’s rate before you visit
-
No surprises — the rate you see is the rate you get
-
Full transparency — our margin is built into the published rate
Check today’s exchange rate on our homepage or ask the cashier at any branch.
3. PayPal Receiving/Commercial Fees
This is an important point that many clients are unaware of.
If you received your funds as a commercial payment in PayPal, standard PayPal receiving fees apply – up to 5.4% + $0.30 USD – before you even initiate the withdrawal to your mobile wallet.
These fees are charged by PayPal, not by SentePal. They are deducted from your PayPal balance at the point the payment is received.
In short: By the time your funds reach SentePal, PayPal has already applied its own receiving fee. Our charges then apply to the amount being withdrawn.
Tiered Charges
Our tiered structure rewards larger transactions with lower percentage fees. The more you withdraw, the better your rate.
| Amount (USD) | Fee (%) |
|---|---|
| $2,000+ | 2% |
| $1,000 – $1,999 | 3% |
| $500 – $999 | 5% |
| $100 – $499 | 7% |
| $50 – $99 | 8% |
| $25 – $49 | 9% |
| $1 – $24 | 10% |
How to read this table:
-
Withdrawing $2,000 or more? You pay just 2% — our best rate.
-
Withdrawing between $1,000 and $1,999? You pay 3%.
-
Smaller withdrawals attract higher percentages to cover processing costs.
These tiers are published here and displayed at the cash point in every branch.
Worked Example
To help you understand exactly what you will receive, here is a simple example.
Scenario: You wish to withdraw $1,500 USD to your MTN Mobile Money wallet.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| PayPal balance available | $1,500.00 |
| PayPal receiving fee (already deducted by PayPal, up to 5.4% + $0.30) | Varies |
| SentePal tiered fee (3% for $1,000–$1,999) | $45.00 |
| Amount converted to UGX | $1,455.00 |
| Exchange rate (published daily) | e.g. UGX 3,800 |
| You receive (approx.) | UGX 5,529,000 |
This is an illustrative example only. Actual amounts depend on the current published exchange rate and any PayPal fees already applied to your account.
What Is Not Charged
We want to be equally clear about what we do not charge for:
-
No hidden charges – the quote you receive is the amount you pay
-
No processing fees – nothing extra added at the last minute
-
No cash pickup fee – collecting cash from the cashier costs the same as a wallet transfer
-
No tiered penalty – our tiers reduce your rate as amounts increase, never the opposite
-
No monthly or account fees – you only pay when you transact
Where to Find Our Fees
We publish our fees in three places so you are never caught off guard:
-
On this page – for reference at any time
-
On our website homepage – daily exchange rates
-
At the cash point – in every branch in Kampala and Kisumu
If you have any questions about your specific transaction, simply ask the cashier or contact us before you proceed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 3% withdrawal fee the same as the tiered fee?
The tiered structure replaces the flat 3% for qualifying amounts. For withdrawals between $1,000 and $1,999, the fee is 3%. For $2,000 and above, it drops to 2%. For amounts below $1,000, higher percentages apply as shown in the table.
When is the PayPal receiving fee charged?
It is deducted by PayPal when your payment is received by SentePal.
How do I know today’s exchange rate?
Our fixed exchange rate is published daily on the SentePal website. You can also ask the cashier at any branch.
Are there any charges for picking up cash?
No. Cash pickup from the cashier is free of additional charge. You pay the same tiered fee as a mobile wallet transfer.
Can I get a quote before committing?
Yes. Call, email, or visit any branch and we will provide a clear, no obligation quote based on your transaction amount.
Do your fees change?
Our fee structure is fixed and published. Exchange rates are updated daily. Any changes to the fee structure will be published here and at the cash point.
